Burleson County Jail Release Paths
The Burleson County Jail is the county’s identified local detention facility. It holds people at the pretrial or county-sentence stage and may hold someone awaiting transfer. A person can leave after posting bond, receiving a personal-bond order, completing credited time, obtaining a dismissal or acquittal, or receiving another court-authorized release. Those events can return a person to the community, but the criminal case may still be open after bond.
Leaving the building can also mean a custody transfer. A jail entry that names TDCJ, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE shows that county custody ended while another authority took control. The release code and receiving-agency field are therefore as important as the exit date. Roster absence alone cannot distinguish freedom from transfer, escape, death, or a data change.
| Recorded event | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Bond or court release | Jail release record and court docket |
| Time served or sentence complete | Jail history, judgment, and jail credit |
| TDCJ transfer | TDCJ current-inmate search after intake |
| USMS or ICE transfer | Federal court, USMS, or ICE channel |
Confirm a Burleson Jail Release
The county publishes no official historical release archive, current roster, or rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release list in the reviewed web material. Start with the jail. Give staff the full legal name and date of birth, then ask whether the person is currently held and whether staff can confirm the date and disposition of an exit. A phone answer can guide the next step, but documentary proof requires the underlying record.
- Match the person by full name, birth information, booking number, or cause number when known.
- Ask whether the exit was a community release or transfer to a named authority.
- Request the booking sheet, custody movement history, release date and time, release reason, bond or releasing authority, and receiving agency.
- Compare the result with the correct court docket or judgment.
The full county search and records path is also explained on the Burleson County released inmates home page. A court disposition can show why legal custody changed, while the jail record is better evidence of the physical exit time.
Burleson Jail Records Contact
The official Burleson County Jail page supplies the verified contact point. Call before traveling because the page does not publish special release-record office hours or a special fee. The jail’s fax number may help with routing, but the county’s approved public-information channel should be used for a formal request.
Burleson County Sheriff’s Office
Burleson County Jail
1334 State Highway 21 East
Caldwell, TX 77836
Phone: 979-567-4343
Fax: 979-567-0615
Ask only for existing records. The Sheriff is not required to create a new explanation or decide what a record means. A precise date range and enough identity details make the request easier to locate and reduce the risk of receiving material about the wrong person.
Request Burleson Release Records
Use the county’s Public Information Request Form when a call does not provide documentary proof. Describe the exact records sought: booking sheet, custody-event history, release screen, bond information, release date and time, disposition code, releasing authority, and the receiving agency if transferred. Ask for an electronic copy and for releasable portions if some fields are withheld.
Texas Government Code chapter 552 governs the request. Section 552.221 calls for prompt production. If the information cannot be produced within ten business days, the officer must certify a reasonable production date; that rule is not a promise that every request finishes within ten days. If estimated charges exceed $40, section 552.2615 addresses an itemized estimate. Burleson County publishes no special release-record fee, so request an estimate instead of assuming a price.
What Burleson Release Records Show
A release record is not one fixed Texas form. In Burleson County, useful information may sit in a booking sheet, release screen, bond record, property receipt, or custody-history report. The court file may hold the order or judgment that caused the change. Asking for fields by name is more reliable than requesting a vague “release report.”
- Release reason
- The coded event, such as bond, time served, court order, or transfer.
- Releasing authority
- The court, magistrate, or agency tied to the exit.
- Receiving agency
- The new custodian when the event was a transfer.
- Cause number
- The case identifier used to match the jail event to the court file.
Include the booked name, aliases, booking identifier, charges, bond type and amount, custody movements, and photograph if releasable. Protected, sealed, juvenile, medical, victim, or security information may be redacted. A release entry also does not prove innocence or final case closure.
Burleson Jail Transfer Checks
If the record names TDCJ, allow time for state intake processing and use the statewide offender search. That search covers people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility, not a simple local bond release. For a federal transfer, a sentenced prisoner may later appear in the BOP Locator, while a federal pretrial detainee may remain under USMS responsibility and require the federal court or Marshals channel.
An ICE notation requires a different check. ICE’s locator is mainly a current or recent detention tool, not a full release archive. A county timestamp saying “released to ICE” ends Burleson County custody but does not mean the person entered the community. Ask the Sheriff’s transfer record to identify the receiving authority before following the federal route.
Burleson Jail Release-Date Rule
The jail publishes a locally distinctive visitation restriction. A person released from any jail or from TDCJ may not visit a Burleson County Jail inmate for 180 days, described by the county as six months, beginning on the release date. That makes an exact, documented date relevant to facility access as well as release verification.
The rule should not be stretched beyond visitation. It does not create a general ban on contacting family, requesting records, or using other lawful county services. When the date is uncertain, ask the jail which record it uses to apply the visitation period. A county release screen or custody-history entry may supply the date, while a TDCJ record may be needed when the visitor left state custody.
Burleson Jail Service Links
The official jail page links HomeWAV for inmate communications and visitation services and Tiger for commissary services. Neither vendor is a released-person locator, historical jail roster, or official booking-photo archive. An account or service screen should not be treated as proof of current custody or release.
The verified sources remain the Sheriff’s jail contact, the county public-information request, and the correct court clerk. Felony court records go through the Burleson County District Clerk; county-level misdemeanor matters go through the County Clerk or county court route. Match the offense and cause number before asking a clerk for the docket, judgment, dismissal, bond order, or supervision order.
These sources answer different questions. The jail records when physical custody changed. The court records the legal case event. A later custodian confirms whether detention continued elsewhere. Used together, they provide the clearest account of where someone went after leaving Burleson County Jail.
