Understanding Burleson County Releases
A Burleson County jail release means one custodian stopped holding a person. It does not always mean the person went home. Bond, dismissal, acquittal, time served, sentence completion, or another court order can lead to community release. A transfer to TDCJ, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE ends local custody while detention continues elsewhere. That distinction controls both the meaning of the event and the next place to search.
The Burleson County Sheriff keeps the local booking and custody record. The correct court clerk holds the docket, order, or judgment explaining the legal event. TDCJ documents state-prison custody and later parole, mandatory supervision, or discharge. Federal systems keep their own records. A reliable finding pairs the physical exit record with the legal disposition whenever possible. Arrest and release data alone do not establish guilt, innocence, or the final result of a case.
Burleson County Release Types
Labels in a custody record are short codes for very different outcomes. Read the release type before choosing another database. A bond release leaves the criminal case pending in most instances. Time served or sentence complete concerns an imposed term. Probation is court-ordered community supervision, while parole and mandatory supervision follow TDCJ incarceration. A transfer is a change of custodian, not a return to the community.
| Release type | Meaning and next record |
|---|---|
| Cash, surety, or personal bond | Pretrial confinement ended under court authority. Check the Burleson court docket because the case normally continues. |
| Time served, sentence complete, or discharge | Credited custody met the term or the sentence expired. Compare the jail event with the judgment and jail credit. |
| Dismissed, no-billed, or acquitted | The court file is the authoritative source for the result; a jail code may only reflect the resulting exit. |
| Probation or community supervision | A court imposed local supervision. Verify through the judgment and the Community Supervision and Corrections Department route. |
| Parole or mandatory supervision | TDCJ incarceration ended conditionally. The Parole Division supervises the remaining sentence period. |
| Transfer or detainer | Another agency took or requested custody. Follow the receiving agency shown in the transfer record. |
Burleson County Release Record Fields
Texas has no single standard document called a release record. The useful local item might be a booking sheet, release screen, custody-history report, bond record, property receipt, or jail-management entry. Ask for named fields in existing records. Include an approximate booking period and enough identity detail to separate people with similar names. Do not ask the Sheriff to decide whether someone is cleared or legally innocent. Those are conclusions, not jail data fields.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Booked name, aliases, birth date or age | Identity details used to distinguish the correct person. |
| Booking or jail ID | The local identifier that ties records to one custody episode. |
| Arresting agency and booking time | Who delivered the person and when local custody began. |
| Charges and cause numbers | The allegations and court cases linked to the booking. |
| Bond type, amount, court, or magistrate | The financial or judicial authority associated with a pretrial exit. |
| Custody movements | Internal moves and transfers that help trace a change in location. |
| Release date and time | When Burleson County custody physically ended. |
| Release reason or disposition code | Whether the event was bond, time served, court action, transfer, or another recorded reason. |
| Releasing or receiving authority | Who approved the exit or which agency received the person after transfer. |
| Booking photograph | The image tied to that booking, if releasable under applicable law. |
Request Burleson County Release Records
Use the county’s official public-information request form when a call does not provide enough proof. Request existing documents rather than asking staff to research or explain the case. A focused request can seek the booking sheet, custody-event history, release record, bond details, transfer destination if public, and booking image. Electronic copies may reduce handling, but the county publishes no special release-record fee, so ask for a cost estimate.
- Identify the person by full booked name, birth date when appropriate, booking number if known, and an approximate date range.
- Name each existing record and field needed, including the release date, time, reason, releasing authority, and receiving agency.
- Submit the form through a county-approved channel or deliver or mail it to the Sheriff at 1334 State Highway 21 East, Caldwell, Texas 77836.
- Keep a copy and proof of delivery. Ask that public portions be separated if other content must be withheld.
- Pair the response with the matching court docket or judgment when the legal reason matters.
Government Code §552.221 calls for prompt production. If the material cannot be produced within ten business days, the officer must certify a reasonable production date. That is not a fixed ten-day completion promise. Under §552.2615, an itemized estimate is required when projected charges exceed $40. Law-enforcement, juvenile, medical, victim, sealed, expunged, and other protected material may be withheld or redacted.

Texas Law on Burleson Releases
The Texas Public Information Act in Government Code chapter 552 governs requests to county agencies. Section 552.108 can protect defined law-enforcement information, while §552.101 incorporates other confidentiality laws. Public basic information does not erase protections for juveniles, sealed or expunged files, victim details, or other confidential material. The governmental body and, when required, the Attorney General resolve claimed exceptions.
TDCJ records use a distinct rule. Section 552.029 identifies state-prison information that remains public despite §552.134, including listed identity, conviction, photograph, parole, and possible-release fields. It is not a mandate for Burleson County to publish an online jail roster. Court records are also handled through the relevant clerk and court-access rules, not as an ordinary demand to a PIA governmental body.
Release does not itself erase a record. Texas expunction procedure is fact-specific, and nondisclosure restricts some public access without wiping out every authorized record. When material is no longer public because of a lawful order, an old copy should not be used to defeat that change.
Burleson Bond Release Processing
The Burleson County Sheriff’s instructions tell callers to phone 979-567-4343 before using the credit-card bail process. The payment route covers the full cash-bail amount or fines and fees for a detained defendant. It requires the amount, docket number or BCID, and bureau code. A convenience fee applies. Processing may not occur until the next business day.
Payment confirmation is therefore not proof of physical release. Staff must process the transaction, check all holds, and complete the jail’s exit steps. Verify the actual release date and time with the jail record. The court docket can then show the bond order and the pending case. If another detainer exists, payment on the Burleson matter may not end custody.
No. It shows a payment step was completed. Only the custody record confirms physical departure and whether another agency took custody.
Find Burleson County Released Inmates
Start by identifying the custodian. A person who simply bonded out of the Burleson County Jail will not appear in TDCJ solely because of that local booking. A person sentenced to state prison leaves the county jail by transfer and later appears through state channels. Federal and immigration paths are separate again. Use full legal name, date of birth, booking period, arresting agency, cause number, and any TDCJ, SID, federal, or A-number available.
- Check the official jail page for current contact details, then call the jail. Ask if the person is held now and, if not, whether the event was community release or transfer.
- Search the correct court file. Felony matters go through the District Clerk. County-level misdemeanors go through the County Clerk and County Court.
- If staff cannot provide enough detail, submit the public-information form for the booking sheet and custody or release history.
- If the record shows TDCJ, use state-prison information and Parole Division channels. For USMS, BOP, or ICE, move to the matching federal source.
- Compare at least two identifiers and two records before treating the result as confirmed.
Why the name disappears: A live roster describes present custody. Release, transfer, data correction, escape, or death can all remove a name, so absence alone proves nothing.
Burleson TDCJ Release Lookup
The TDCJ Offender Information gateway routes state-prison searches and contact options. Its online inmate search is limited to people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. It can help confirm that a Burleson County defendant was transferred into state prison, but it is not a historical locator for all discharged prisoners and never covers a simple county-jail bond release.
| Search input | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Last and first name | Start broad, then compare age, offense, conviction county, and sentence. |
| TDCJ number | Use the seven-digit state identifier for the strongest current-prison match. |
| SID number | Use the Texas state identification number when known. |
| Gender and race | Narrow similar-name results, but never rely on one trait alone. |
For history after a name leaves the current search, email `pia@tdcj.texas.gov` with the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number. If that number is unknown, provide exact birth date or approximate age and county of conviction. Ask for actual release or discharge date, release category, and incarceration history. The official email service states that the listed information is free and that it does not supply photographs or Social Security numbers. Telephone information is available at 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The official TDCJ gateway shown below separates state offender information from county jail data.
Use it only when a state-prison connection exists, then obtain history or supervision confirmation after release.
Burleson County Recent Release Search
The Sheriff’s official web pages expose no current-person roster, released-booking view, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, mobile inmate app, or booking-photo gallery. They also state no refresh rate or online retention period. That verified absence matters. An empty search result cannot be interpreted because there is no official county search interface to begin with. Service links for HomeWAV communications and visitation or Tiger commissary are not custody locators.
For a same-day check, call 979-567-4343 with the full legal name and birth date. Ask whether the person is held now. If not, ask whether staff can confirm the release or transfer date and disposition. Staff may limit what can be given by phone. For a time window, request an existing release log or custody-event report with exact start and end dates. For one named person, request that person’s booking sheet and custody history. No official feed means there is no sound claim that records update every few minutes or remain online for a set number of days.
Record rule: Internet visibility and agency retention are different. A record may still be requestable even though Burleson County never posted it online.
Burleson Release Court Records
Court routing depends on offense level. The Burleson County District Clerk handles felony criminal filings and permits in-person record searches. The office is at 205 E. Fox, Suite 2001, Caldwell, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. It closes from noon to 1 p.m. Ask for the docket, charging instrument, bond order, judgment, sentence, jail-credit finding, dismissal or acquittal order, and any probation, revocation, discharge, expunction, or nondisclosure order that can lawfully be acknowledged.
County-level misdemeanor verification goes through the County Clerk and County Court. The general historical-record portal linked by that office is not expressly promised as a complete criminal disposition index. Contact the clerk for the right search or copy route. A court file may explain why custody ended, but it often lacks the exact exit time. Pair it with the jail record.
The District Clerk page shown below is the verified felony record-search route for a Burleson release inquiry.
Its office details help route a case file without mistaking a general portal for a promised criminal index.
Burleson Release Date Affects Visits
Burleson County Jail publishes a distinctive visitation rule. A person released from any jail or from TDCJ may not visit a Burleson County Jail inmate for 180 days, or six months, beginning on the release date. That makes the exact date important for facility access even though the Sheriff provides no online release feed.
The rule concerns visits at this jail. It should not be stretched into a limit on unrelated conduct. When the date is uncertain, obtain the custody or release record and call the facility before planning a visit. A court disposition may explain the case outcome, but the jail record is better evidence of the physical release date that starts this period.
Burleson Release Alerts and Transfers
For county custody, the jail page points people seeking status and case information toward VINELink. Texas moved county victim notification to Texas IVSS-Counties effective September 1, 2025. Burleson participation in the successor feed was not independently confirmed in an official coverage list. Treat any alert as a prompt to verify through the Sheriff, not as a certified release record.
TDCJ has a separate IVSS system for people in state prison or on parole or mandatory supervision. Its search accepts name, SID, or TDCJ number and can display identity, custody status, facility, details, and a subscription path. This state service does not prove that someone bonded out of the county jail. The DPS sex-offender registry is narrower still. It offers post-release context only for people legally required to register and is not a list of all released inmates.
Federal custody requires the right system. The BOP Inmate Locator searches many federal records from 1982 onward and may show “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” with a release date. That confirms exit from BOP, not every possible custody. Pretrial federal detainees may remain under USMS in contracted facilities. ICE’s locator primarily addresses current or recent immigration detention. A Burleson record that says released to ICE records the end of county custody, not freedom.
Burleson Released or Still Held
No single portal covers all four paths. Choose the row that matches the last known custodian, then check whether the source describes present custody, past release, or only a court event.
| Situation | Best source | What it can establish |
|---|---|---|
| Current Burleson jail custody | Call the Burleson County Jail | Whether the person is held now; the official site has no public roster. |
| Past county-jail exit | Sheriff custody history plus court file | Physical exit time and reason, then the legal event. |
| Current TDCJ incarceration | TDCJ online inmate search | Current state-prison identifiers, unit, conviction, sentence, and displayed date fields. |
| Past TDCJ release | TDCJ history and Parole Division | Release or discharge category, date, and supervision where applicable. |
| Past federal prison release | BOP Locator | Exit from BOP on the listed date, not release from all authorities. |
| Possible immigration transfer | Sheriff transfer record, ICE ODLS, and ERO | Whether local custody changed to immigration custody. |
No. It is a forecast that can change. An updated custody history or actual release record confirms the event.
Burleson County Release Facilities
The local and outside systems serve different roles. Burleson County Jail is the only locally operated detention facility identified in official county materials. No TDCJ prison unit, BOP institution, or ICE-owned detention facility was identified inside the county. Those statewide and federal entries are included because a person can leave the local jail by transfer.
- Burleson County Jail: verify a local community exit or transfer through the Sheriff custody record and court docket.
- Texas Department of Criminal Justice: follow a state-prison transfer, then use TDCJ history and parole channels after release.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons system: use the BOP Locator for sentenced federal custody and many former federal prisoners.
- Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention network: follow a transfer through ICE ODLS and Enforcement and Removal Operations.
When the receiving agency is unclear, ask for that field in the Sheriff’s existing transfer record. It is the bridge between systems and prevents a local exit from being mistaken for community release.
